Catfolk on d20pfsrd

Native to the Sra Wathra island kingdoms, the thiraf pride themselves on their seafaring culture.  Fearless to travel, thiraf may also be found in any of Evindale’s port cities trading anything they have found on their way.

Dwarf

Hillslider

Racial Traits
+2 Dex, +2 Con, -2 Wis
Speed: 20 ft
Size: Medium
Automatic Languages: Dwarven
Bonus Languages: Aegelean, Alekevian, Giant, Gnome, Goblin, Ivirial, Literacy, Malan, Mutvian, Nudvrium, Orc, Sharanese, Terran, Tunbrian, Undercommon
Racial Abilities: Defensive Training, Dwarven Weaponry Familiarity, Greed, Hardy, Hatred, Slow and Steady, Stability, Stonecunning

Slightly taller and leaner than their underdwelling cousins, the Hillsliders are often the face of The Empire of the Spine to the outside world.  This does not prevent a vicious intraracial feud between them and the more common Spinewardens, however.

Spinewarden

Racial Traits
+2 Con, +2 Wis, -2 Cha
Speed: 20 ft
Size: Medium
Automatic Languages: Dwarven
Bonus Languages: Aegelean, Alekevian, Giant, Gnome, Goblin, Ivirial, Literacy, Malan, Mutvian, Nudvrium, Orc, Sharanese, Terran, Tunbrian, Undercommon
Racial Abilities: Defensive Training, Dwarven Weaponry Familiarity, Greed, Hardy, Hatred, Slow and Steady, Stability, Stonecunning

When one thinks of the stout and stoic dwarf, one is thinking of the Spinewarden.  What they lack in amiability is more than made up for in their technological wizardry.  It was the Spinewardens who introduced firearms and airships to the World of Evindale, after all.

Elf

To themselves, they are the First People (“Il”), those touched by Sythlia’s hand and made to sentient and autonomous beings.  For this reason, many elves see other races as beneath them or even crass such as the descendants of dragons themselves, the orcs.

Adri’il (Wood Elf)

Racial Traits
+2 Str, +2 Dex, -2 Int
Speed: 30 ft.
Size: Medium
Bonus Feats: 1
Automatic Languages: Elven
Bonus Languages: Celestial, Draconic, Elven, Gnoll, Gnome, Goblin, Ivirial, Maristevian, Mutvian, Orc. Sharanese, Sta’abrian, Sylvan
Racial Abilities: Elven Immunities, Elven Magic, Elven Weapon Familiarity, Keen Senses

To the other elves, the Adri’il are a feral throwback in evolution.  Often shorter with an average height of just below human, the wood elves have slightly pointy canines and hairier bodies suggesting an odd racial pairing in their ancient past.

Myrad’il (Sand Elf)

Racial Traits
+2 Con, +2 Wis, -2 Cha
Cannot be evil
Speed: 30 ft.
Size: Medium
Automatic Languages: Elven
Bonus Languages: Aegelean, Alekevian, Celestial, Draconic, Gnoll, Gnome, Goblin, Ivirial, Literacy, Malan, Maristevian, Mutvian, Orc. Sharanese, Sylvan, Tunbrian
Racial Abilities: Elven Immunities, Elven Magic, Elven Weapon Familiarity, Keen Senses

These human-sized desert-dwellers have a slight metallic sheen to their skin and are known for poetry and wise council throughout the lands of Malech and Tala.  Given their appearance and inability to be of evil nature, some have posited the Myrad’il have ancient metallic dragon blood in their veins.

Sadrath’il (Bright Elf)

Racial Traits
-2 Con, +4 Int
Speed: 30 ft.
Size: Medium
Automatic Languages: Draconic
Bonus Languages: Aegelean, Alekevian, Celestial, Draconic, Elven, Gnoll, Goblin, Ivirial, Literacy, Malan, Maristevian, Mutvian, Nudvrium, Orc. Sharanese, Sphinx, Sylvan, Tunbrian
Racial Abilities: Elven Immunities, Elven Magic, Elven Weapon Familiarity, Keen Senses

Taller than any other elf, the cunning Sadrath’il possess wicked intellects as sharp as their narrow features.  This may be a product of breeding in the pits of Dra’anan or a gift of Sythlia herself, but none can dispute their appetite for knowledge and all things magical.

Slindar’il (Ash Elf)

Racial Traits
-1 Str, +2 Dex, +2 Int, -1 Cha
Speed: 30 ft.
Size: Medium
Automatic Languages: Slin dialect of Old Elven (Temp: Elven, Undercommon)
Bonus Languages: Abyssal, Aklo, Alekevian, Celestial, Draconic, Elven, Gnoll, Gnome, Goblin, Ivirial, Maristevian, Mutvian, Orc, Sharanese, Sta’abrian, Sylvan
Racial Abilities: Dancing Lights, Darkness, Darkvision, Drow Weapon Familiarity, Elven Immunities, Faerie Fire, Keen Senses, Light Blindness, Poison Use

The smallest of all elves (about that of a dwarf), the Slindar’il are said to make their home on the surface of the mysterious Empire of Slindari, but rumors state the underground population is the most vast of all races combined.  Certainly, none have ever found tunnels leading to or from the Slindari underearth.

Slindar’il are striking in appearance with skin colors ranging the full gamut of the gray spectrum, from charcoal black to ivory pale white and all shades between.  Their hair tends to remain a high gloss black throughout their life, but some Slindar’il have been seen with subtle hues of green, purple, and blue akin to a raven’s wing.

Theran’il (Farsight Elf)

Racial Traits
+2 Dex, -1 Con, +2 Wis, -1 Cha
Speed: 30 ft.
Size: Medium
Automatic Languages: Draconic
Bonus Languages: Aegelean, Alekevian, Gnoll, Goblin, Ivirial, Literacy, Malan, Maristevian, Mutvian, Orc, Sharanese, Skald, Sta’abrian, Sylvan, Tunbrian
Racial Abilities: +4 Perception, Elven Immunities, Elven Weapon Familiarity

With wide, almost saucer-like eyes the Theran’il are the most alien-looking of all the elves, matching the Sadrath’il in lack of typical proportion.  Their height is that of a typical elf, slightly taller and more lithe than most humans.

While all elves may be found in Wyth Tyr’il, the Theran’il claim no homeland as their population is typically seen in all climates and in all lands.  They are few in number, however.

Gnome

Racial Traits
-2 Str, +2 Con, +2 Cha
Speed: 20 ft.
Size: Small
Automatic Languages: Gnome, Sylvan
Bonus Languages: Draconic, Dwarven, Elven, Giant, Goblin, Orc, Sharanese, Skald, Sta’abrian, Sylvan, Tunbrian
Racial Abilities: Dancing Lights, Defensive Training, Ghost Sound, Gnome Magic, Gnomish Weapon Familiarity, Hatred, Illusion Resistance, Keen Senses, Obsessive, Prestidigitation, Speak with Animals

Gnomes represent an enigma to scholars.  Entire ages have come and gone without any gnome presence in Evindale.  Then over the course of a single 25 year span in the Third Age, these small people matched elves in their population.

Wild rumors concern their existence, explaining they are the reincarnated souls from a fully populated Isle of Evin.  Others postulate gnomes hail from other worlds Sythlia created before the First Age.  Whatever the case, gnomes seem to be here to stay.

Goblin

Racial Traits
-2 Str, +4 Dex, -2 Cha
Speed: 30 ft.
Size: Small
Automatic Languages: Goblin
Bonus Languages: Draconic, Dwarven, Gnoll, Gnome, Halfling, Orc
Racial Abilities: Darkvision, Skilled

Homeland
Dra’anan

Trouble has lurked around every corner in the World of Evindale, but none more so in the lands of Dra’anan where the goblin hordes were tasked with the work of slaves under their Sadrath’il overlords.  Kept ignorant, they were only allowed to ever speak orcish or goblin.  Any who openly showed knowledge of Draconic were immediately slain.

At the end of the Third Age, the Askite Wars in Dra’anan saw a nation-wide slave revolt.  By the tens of thousands, goblins poured out of the wretched barren landscape and in to the world beyond much to the dismay of many.

Half-Elf

Racial Traits
+2 to one Ability Score
Speed: 30 ft.
Size: Medium
Automatic Languages: Elven
Bonus Languages: Aegelean, Alekevian, Dwarven, Gnoll, Gnome, Goblin, Ivirial, Literacy, Malan, Mutvian, Nudvrium, Sharanese, Tunbrian
Racial Abilities: Adaptability, Elf Blood, Elven Immunities, Keen Senses, Low-Light Vision, Multitalented

Mating pairs of elves and humans have occurred for ages, but it has always been the elven parent’s appearance that has dominated a half-elf’s life but rarely their specialized abilities or drawbacks.

Half-Orc

Racial Traits
+2 to one Ability Score
Speed: 30 ft.
Size: Medium
Automatic Languages: Orc
Bonus Languages: Abyssal, Aegelean, Alekevian, Draconic, Giant, Gnoll, Goblin, Ivirial, Malan, Mutvian, Sharanese, Sta’abrian, Tunbrian
Racial Abilities: Intimidating, Orc Ferocity, Orcish Weapon Familiarity

Thankfully, most orcs stay within the confines of Sta’abri or Dra’anan, but the occasional raiding party does venture into Ivari or Mütvia.  In these lands is the half-orc who, like the half-elves, appear more like their non-human parent than not.

Halfling

Halfling (Igyrlin)

Racial Traits
-2 Str, +2 Dex, +2 Cha
Speed: 20 ft.
Size: Small
Automatic Languages: Halfling
Bonus Languages: Abyssal, Aegelean, Alekevian, Dwarven, Elven, Gnome, Goblin, Ivirial, Malan, Mutvian, Nudvrium, Sharanese
Racial Abilities: Fearless, Halfling Luck, Halfling Weapon Familiarity, Keen Senses, Sure-Footed

Called halfling only by humans and their Tirfolk cousins, the folk of the Igyrlin have lived in the eastern hills of Ivari since the Second Age.  Igyrlin will say they are the true First People, however, and not the elves.

Affable, tenacious, and wonderful storytellers, the Igyrlin are a stark contrast to the orcs that live just on the other side of the mountains to the east in the lands of Sta’abri.

Tirfolk

Racial Traits
+2 Str, +2 Con, -1 Int, -1 Cha
Speed: 30 ft.
Size: Medium
Automatic Languages: Halfling
Bonus Languages: Abyssal, Dwarven, Elven, Giant, Gnome, Goblin, Ivirial, Malan, Mutvian, Nudvrium
Racial Abilities: Fearless, Halfling Luck, Halfling Weapon Familiarity, Keen Senses, Sure-Footed

When the Igyrlin claim they were the First People, they often point to the hearty Tirfolk as being the Igyrlin ancestor.  The exceptionally durable Tirfolk see this as an insult, however, who claim the halflings could not possibly be of their ilk; “they are too weak.”

Smaller than a dwarf and taller than an Igyrlin, a Tirfolk’s lithe frame belies their incredible strength and resiliance to the world’s dangers.

Typically seen roaming the vast tundras of Cultrek and the sands of Malech as raiders, the Tirfolk claim territories and hold on to them tenaciously.

Human (Klane)

Racial Traits
+2 to one Ability Score
Racial Abilities: Bonus Feat, Skilled

It is said humans were created from all the elements by Sythlia as her final act before sequestering herself to the Isle of Evin.  They are certainly the youngest of races, but owing to their presumably true origins of all elements, the are also the most adaptable to the varied climes of the world.

Ifrit

Racial Traits
+2 Dex, +2 Cha, -2 Wis
Speed: 30 ft.
Size: Medium
Automatic Languages: Ignan
Bonus Languages: Aquan, Auran, Dwarven, Elven, Gnome, Halfling, Terran
Racial Abilities: Burning Hands, Darkvision, Energy Resistance (Fire), Fire Affinity

Sythlia’s attempt to create life from the eight elements resuled in more than the oreads, korvad’an, and undine; the ifrit joins them with the element of fire coursing through their veins.

Korvad’an

Racial Traits
-2 Con, +2 Int, +2 Wis
Speed: 30 ft.
Size: Medium
Automatic Languages: Celestial
Bonus Languages: Abyssal, Sta’abrian
Racial Abilities: Darkvision, Immune to Undeath, Spirit Walk

High in the frozen mountains of northwest Sta’abri, the black-cloaked korvad’an peer out over a white landscape.  Adorned with faint mystical tattoos around their hairline and wrists, these pale ice-colored people with eyes of violet and ice blue are said to have in their makeup the realm of spirits.  Indeed, even the korvad’an claim the element of spirit is in their ancestry.

Oread

Racial Traits
Str +2, Wis +2, Cha -2

In the fiery plains of southeastern Sta’abri, in the cool hilly forests of Mütvia, and in The Spine itself like the oread.  Legends says these humans were the first of those created by Sythlia, but with a concentration of the element of earth which now contributes significantly to their appearance.

Rech

Racial Traits
+6 Str, +4 Con, -4 Int, -2 Wis, -2 Cha

No more loathsome creature exists save that of the rech.  Misshapen in body and deformed in spirit, dull of wit but of hearty constitution, the Lords of the Dranir push the rech mercilessly onward as slaves in the construction of the Dranir cities, tunnels, and more.

Rarely are they seen outside of Dra’anan.

Revenant

Racial Traits
Con -2, Int +2, Cha +2

No revenant knows of their true past, though glimpses of it come in dreams and nightmares.

They say living corpses with waxy yellowish skin are the dead sent by Sythlia to the lands of the living to be given a second chance.

Of all revenants, however, none are more well-known than those of the Eternal Kyrian Court, the masters over the wonderous city of Avar, the capital of Ivari.

Tengu

Racial Traits
Dex +2, Con -2, Wis +2

In the distant high mountains of Lakt Thel far to Erinnal’s east lies the Lands of the Lakt Thel, the tengu.

Not even the dwarven Spinewarden Sages can divine what secrets lie in the high peaks of the tengu homeland.  All of these anthropomorphic ravens speak of wonderful architecture with spiraling spires of stone and a craftsmanship that rivals the dwarves.

They also speak of control of ancient magics and that they alone were the creators of the famous and infamous portals of Evindale.  A boast many gnomes scoff at for they claim the same.

Tiefling

Racial Traits
Dex +2, Int +2, Cha -2

Born of fiend and human, tieflings are reviled in every countryside and tolerated in cities.  This hatred for these innocents of mortality comes not from the deeds of the individuals or even individual betrayers of their usual kind nature, but from a history when Fayan, the Deity of Murderous Death, swore a pact with the devils.

At the end of the Fourth Age, Fayan wished to occupy Sythlia’s absence in the realm of the physical.  To do so, however, she must first secure a physical body.  The devils agreed to be the designers of such a thing and one innocent and nameless woman was to be that vessel.

Infused with the powers of hell, the woman’s body was transformed into half-god, half-mortal.  Fayan’s plan was foiled (The Plot of the Black Arrow), however, and the essence of the woman’s soul and body spread across the land and into others.

Since then, tieflings were born, feared, and hated.

Undine

Racial Traits
Str -2, Dex +2, Wis +2

Where the oreads claim an ancestry with humans and the element of earth, the undine claim that of the element of water.

Typically small in stature, undine are usually found in the equitorial regions.  Legends speak of vast underwater cities near the Isle of Evindale in which the ancestors to the undine once lived.  The notoriously curious wizards of the Serilean Council of Amsträd has leaked more than once they know the location of a living and vibrant underwater city.  Undine who hear these tales often find themselves wistful of the such.  Unfortunately, the Council will not yield their secrets and so the undine must continue to be strangers in the strange land of terra firma.
